West Virginia added another major transfer from the SEC Friday when the football program announced that former Tennessee offensive lineman Ray Raulerson will be a Mountaineer.

Raulerson, 6-foot-4, 287-pounds, moved quickly to transfer from the Volunteers after just announcing a little over a week ago that he would be looking for other opportunities.

Currently a redshirt sophomore, Raulerson will have to sit out this following season due to NCAA transfer rules and will be eligible to compete in 2017 with two years remaining in Morgantown.

He redshirted during his freshman season in 2014 and during the 2015 season he appeared in five games for the Volunteers making his college debut against Bowling Green.

A Rivals.com three-star recruit in the class of 2014, Raulerson attended the powerhouse Plant High School in Tampa, Florida before selecting the Volunteers. Rated as the No. 54 offensive tackle and No. 77 prospect in Florida, Raulerson choose Tennessee over a long list of scholarship offers such as Auburn, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Mississippi State, Louisville and Rutgers, among others.

West Virginia also offered the talented offensive lineman out of high school and was recruited by former special teams coordinator Joe DeForest.

“He wants me to check things out because they have a great program up there,” Raulerson said at the time.

Raulerson was recruited as an offensive tackle out of high school but played center for Tennessee and will step into a wide open situation in the 2017 season after the graduation of Tyler Orlosky.

WVSports.com will have more on Raulerson.
